New on EntryThingy: Better Recommendations, Smarter Calls, and Free Resources for Artists

By EntryThingy Team

Good things happening on EntryThingy this week. We shipped a few updates that make the platform work better for both artists and gallery organizers — plus two new free resources we think you'll actually use.

Smarter Opportunity Recommendations

The system that matches artists to open calls just got a tune-up. It now looks at real submission data each week to figure out which recommendations are actually leading to applications — and adjusts itself based on what it learns.

In plain terms: the more you use EntryThingy, the better it gets at surfacing calls that are right for you.

For artists: Browse your open calls on the opportunities page and see what's waiting for you. The more you apply, the smarter your recommendations get.

A Nudge for Galleries with Stuck Drafts

We noticed something: dozens of galleries had created calls in the last few months, but never hit publish. The deadlines were still in the future — so these weren't abandoned, just stuck.

We now send a gentle reminder to organizers in that situation. A little nudge to get their call live so artists can actually find it.

For gallery organizers: If you have a call sitting in draft, now's a great time to finish it up and publish. Artists are looking. Log in and check your calls.

Artist Showcase Token Charges — Fixed

A few artists reached out about unexpected token charges related to the Artist Showcase feature. We tracked it down and fixed it. Showcase activity is now properly logged, and the system will automatically pause if your token balance runs low — no more surprise charges.

For artists using Showcase: You're covered. But it's always worth checking your token balance to make sure everything looks right.

Two New Free Guides for Artists

We published two new blog posts this week. Both are based on real data from EntryThingy — not generic advice you've read a hundred times.

  • 11 Artist Statement Examples — Real statements from artists in our Browse Artists directory. Great if you're writing or rewriting yours and want to see what actually works.

  • Best Time to Apply to Art Calls — We looked at nearly 50,000 submissions across more than 2,600 calls to find the patterns. Some of the results are surprising.

For artists: Bookmark both. Share them with an artist friend who's working on applications right now.

That's the week. As always, if something feels off or you have a question, reach out to our support team — we read everything.
