What's New on EntryThingy: June 2026

By EntryThingy Team

Good things happened this week. We fixed some frustrating rough edges, made a few things faster, and added some new options for artists who need more storage. Here's what's worth knowing.

Browsing for Opportunities Just Got More Accurate

If you've ever filtered calls by medium and felt like you were missing some, you were right. We had a bug where calls that accept all media types — because the organizer left the categories open — were getting dropped from filtered results. That's fixed now.

So if you filter for photography, painting, or any other medium, you'll see every call that's relevant to you. Including the ones with open submissions.

Try it now: Head to Browse Calls and filter by your medium. You may find opportunities you were missing before.

Video in Applications Now Works the Way It Should

When jurors or organizers reviewed applications that included video, the carousel navigation was broken. Clicking through multiple views would get stuck or skip over the video entirely. That's fixed.

Video pieces now scroll through cleanly alongside images, the way they always should have.

If you submit video work: Next time you apply to a call, your video will display correctly for whoever reviews it.

Your Portfolio Piece Limits Don't Block Applications

This one caused real confusion, and we're glad to clear it up. If you're on a free plan and you've hit your portfolio storage limit, your pieces get locked — but that does not stop you from applying to calls. You can always upload directly to an application, even if your portfolio is full.

We've updated the wording in the app and in the emails you receive so this is much clearer.

Already worried about this? Read more in our help docs or just go ahead and apply — your limit won't get in the way.

New Studio Tier for Art Website Members

For artists who need serious storage, there's a new option. The Studio tier gives you 5,000 photos for $39.99/month. It's built for working artists with large bodies of work who've outgrown the smaller plans.

This is available for Art Website Manager subscribers.

A New Blog Post Worth Reading

We published a new article this week: Why Artists Get Rejected From Art Calls (And How To Avoid It). It's honest, practical, and based on what we actually see on the platform. If you've ever wondered why your application didn't make it through, this is a good read.

That's the week. As always, if something feels off or you have a question, reach out to us — we're listening.
