What's New on EntryThingy: May 2026

By The EntryThingy Team

A busy week behind the scenes. We shipped some things that make the day-to-day smoother — for artists filling out applications and for galleries managing their calls. Here's what's new.

Artists: See Exactly What's Left Before You Submit

Staring at an application and wondering if you missed something? We added a "what's left" summary right at the top of your application page. It shows you — at a glance — which sections still need attention before you can submit.

And if a section has two or fewer missing fields, we name them directly. No more hunting around wondering what "incomplete" actually means.

  • Open any in-progress application on EntryThingy to see it in action.
  • The checklist now reads "Complete these to continue" — clear, simple, no guessing.

Galleries: More Control Over Your Data Exports

If your call asks artists whether you can use their images for promotion, that answer is now available in your custom download exports.

Before this week, that yes/no response lived in the system but had no way to get out. Now you can include it in your spreadsheet exports alongside everything else.

  • Head to your call's export settings and look for the image use permission option in your Custom Download fields.
  • This is especially useful if you're coordinating PR, social posts, or catalog materials after a show.

We also fixed a bug where clicking Save Details on a piece would sometimes make fields appear to vanish and throw an error. That's resolved — your saves will stick cleanly now.

For Galleries Sending Emails: Clearer Recipient Counts

When you're drafting an email to your applicants, the preview step now shows you the full recipient count — not just the first 50 names in the preview list.

So instead of seeing "Showing 50 artists" and wondering how many will actually get the message, you'll see something like "Showing 50 of 61 artists — all 61 will receive the email when sent."

  • Next time you send a batch email, check the preview step to confirm your full reach before hitting send.

We also fixed a glitch where double-clicking the delete button on a draft email could throw an error. One click, clean delete, no drama.

Setting Up a New Call Just Got Simpler

When you create a brand-new call, several optional fields — terms agreement, "how did you find us," material type, dimensions, and GIF uploads — now default to off.

These are things many calls don't need. You can still turn them on, but you won't have to turn them off every single time you start fresh.

  • Starting a new call? The form will feel lighter. Add only what your call actually needs.
  • Existing calls are untouched — nothing changes for calls already in progress.
